Maintenance
A website is not a piece of furniture. Plugins age, vulnerabilities get published, a certificate expires, and the whole thing holds until the day it does not. Maintenance is there so that day is not a Friday in December.
The point most often neglected is not the updates, it is the backup. Plenty of sites have one, almost nobody has checked that it restores. A backup nobody has ever tried to put back is not a backup, it is an intention.
We also take on sites we did not build. In that case the handover starts with a diagnosis, because you do not commit to maintaining a site whose condition you do not know.
What a contract covers
- Updates to the platform and its plugins, tested before they are applied.
- Automatic backups, and one trial restore a year.
- Uptime monitoring, with an alert if the site goes down.
- Renewal of the certificate and the domain name.
- Small content changes, within an agreed volume.
- One person to talk to, and a response time in writing.
We do not show a price here, and the reason lies in what a contract covers. Maintaining a five-page site on an up-to-date platform has nothing in common with maintaining a shop of two thousand references whose plugins nobody has touched for three years. The figure is set on the real condition of the site and on the agreed volume of changes, after a diagnosis when we did not build it.
